Sofia received her PhD in Statistics from University of Florida in 1996. She has worked as a clinical biostatistician in various roles at Eli Lilly, Novartis and GSK (incl. for DREAMM7 and DREAMM8). These various roles over 20 years have given her the opportunity to develop scientific strategies and be part of drug development decision making using cutting edge statistical methods and applications. Sofia has led more than 10 global submissions and multiple advisory committees.
Besides working in Oncology/Hematology for most of her career, Sofia has been involved in the development and regulatory submissions in Women’s health, Cardiovascular and Neuroscience areas. Most recently Sofia has been heading the Biometrics group at Syros biotech.
As Biometrics head, she has expertise from early phase trials through post marketing, familiarity with regulatory guidance and also be a part of large Biostatistics community as student committee chair for Deming conference.
