Jeff Barrus

Vice President of Regulatory Affairs

Jeff Barrus joined CellCentric as the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs in April 2025.  He brings over 20 years of experience in global regulatory affairs and quality assurance in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.  

Jeff comes to us mostly recently from Frontier Medicines where he served as the Head of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance.  He led Frontier through their first IND, obtained Fast Track Designation and developed global regulatory strategies for all products at the company.  He designed and implemented supportive regulatory and quality systems including a functioning Quality Management System. 

Before that Jeff worked at the Bill & Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute for four years to address global health concerns including tuberculosis, RSV, and newborn health issues in low- and middle-income countries. Jeff also spent nine years in Regulatory Affairs at Astellas where he was responsible for all regulatory aspects of assigned oncology projects, including Xtandi. He had regulatory oversight of clinical trials in more than thirty countries and registered an oncology product with several indications in over ninety countries.  

Jeff started his career in cancer genetics at Myriad Genetic Laboratories where he helped identify mutations, including several novel mutations, in BRCA1/BRCA2 and helped create a consensus sequence for HNPCC. He then spent several years in Quality Assurance before moving to Regulatory Affairs.  

Jeff has been involved in all phases of clinical development and has direct experience in the US, Canada, Europe, South America, Asia, Africa, and Oceana. He has successfully submitted marketing applications and supplements in many countries including the US, EU, and Japan. He has submitted several successful INDs in the US and many CTAs globally.  

Jeff holds a B.S. in Biology from the University of Utah and has earned professional certificates including Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) from the American Society of Quality and Regulatory Affairs Certification (US and EU) from the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society.  

In his spare time, he enjoys time with family, hiking and snorkelling whenever he gets the opportunity.
