Nigel joined CellCentric in April 2016.
Nigel obtained his PhD from the University of Nottingham in 1985 and was awarded a Canadian MRC post-doctoral fellowship to research the endocrinology of pre-term birth at the University of Western Ontario. In 1987 he joined the MRC Human Reproductive Sciences Unit in Edinburgh, where he was a Group Leader, continuing with this research. Nigel joined Zeneca Central Toxicology Laboratory in 1996 to lead a new Molecular Endocrinology Group and two years later he moved to AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals as Associate Director of the Cancer in vivo Pharmacology group and Translational Science groups. In 2008, Nigel became Director and then Executive Project Director leading global teams that delivered several successful oncology drug candidates into clinical development. Nigel was also leader of the AstraZeneca Urology Disease Area team, successfully driving forward new opportunities for patients with prostate and bladder cancers. In Sept 2014 he joined the Manchester Cancer Research Centre as Director of Research Operations and Business.
Nigel has published over 80 papers in peer review journals, has served on the BBSRC Animal Sciences Committee as well as the Council of Management of the Society for Endocrinology. Nigel has held honorary lectureship positions at the University of Glasgow and University of Manchester.
