CellCentric and Cancer Research Technology Collaborate on Epigenetic Discoveries

New alliance will accelerate the validation of novel epigenetic targets and the generation of therapeutic product candidates from the lab of Tony Kouzarides

CAMBRIDGE, UK, 14th November 2007

CellCentric, the biotechnology company unlocking epigenetic control mechanisms, has increased its discovery potential with a new alliance with Prof Tony Kouzarides and Cancer Research Technology Ltd.

Prof Kouzarides, who is based at the Gurdon Institute, University of Cambridge UK, has a long track record of identifying and elucidating the functionality of novel enzymes that influence the epigenetic status of cells and that have important roles in disease progression, particularly cancer. With the new relationship CellCentric will have exclusive access to new findings which will be developed in partnership with Cancer Research Technology Ltd.

Commenting of the new agreement, Dr Will West, CEO of CellCentric, said ‘Tony is a key player in epigenetics and the discovery of novel ways to tackle diseases such as cancer. Working with him and Cancer Research Technology Ltd. will add significantly to CellCentric's network of world leaders in epigenetic discovery that has already produced a series of novel therapeutic targets and screens.'

Dr Keith Blundy, CEO of Cancer Research Technology Ltd added ‘We look forward to our partnership with CellCentric. They have proven they can move fast and maximise the commercial potential of novel epigenetic discoveries with their highly focused approach'.

Note:
Cancer Research Technology Ltd. is the commercial arm of Cancer Research UK, which funds the research of Prof Tony Kouzarides at the University of Cambridge. CRUK is the largest independent provider of financial support for cancer research in the world.
