Gerald Chan, DSc.
Co-Founder, Morningside
Dr. Chan co-founded Morningside, a diversified investment group engaged primarily in private equity and venture capital investments in North America, Asia and Europe. Morningside commenced investing in China in 1992 and remains active in China’s internet, media and life sciences sectors. Dr. Chan is a director of publicly listed Hang Lung Group Limited, a Hong Kong property development company, and serves on the boards of several private biotechnology companies, including Serica, Inc., Critical Biologics Corporation, CellCentric, Ltd., Inimex Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Green Biologics, Inc., Stealth Peptides Inc., and Vaccine Technologies Inc. Dr. Chan is a trustee of Fudan University in Shanghai and sits on the advisory boards of the Johns Hopkins University - Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies, The Institute of Mathematical Science of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the International Society of Stem Cell Research Global Advisory Council, Cold Spring Harbor Conferences Asia, Harvard China Fund, and the Physical Sciences Visiting Committee of UCLA.
Dr. Chan received his BS and MS degrees in Engineering from UCLA, and a Master of Science degree in Medical Radiological Physics and a Doctor of Science degree in Radiation Biology from Harvard University. He completed his post-doctoral training at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
